About The Asset

Stable potable water supply for mine site personnel.

This tower stores and supplies potable water to nearby admin, CHPP and workshop offices. Traditional inspection methods would have been slow, physical and uncomprehensive. Our approach gives us 100% asset coverage in a quick 15-minute flight.

Our Process

Fully-automated, structural data capture.

Using a DJI Matrice 4E drone fitted with a Manifold 3, Insite was able to capture full asset condition with just a 15-minute flight. Here's how it worked:

  1. The drone 'Auto-Explores' within the defined limits, generating a low-density point cloud using infrared sensor data.

  2. The computer in the remote controller calculates the optimal data-capture flight route based on the geometry of the initial point cloud. The operator inputs flight speed, distance from asset and more.

  3. The drone flys the path around the tower, capturing high-quality imagery at a rate of 100 images per minute

The result is a set of high-quality structural data that can be used to perform a structural inspection or generate a digital twin.
